PY-IM A - Introduction
It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H20N2O3. It is a solid, soluble in some organic solvents such as ether and dimethylformamide.
It is often used as an intermediate in organic synthesis reactions. It can be introduced into the molecule as a protecting group to protect nucleophilic functional groups, such as ketone or amine groups, from unwanted reactions. It can also be used as a C- hydroxymethylating reagent, playing a role in some chemical transformations, such as the synthesis of amides.
The method of preparation is usually by reacting piperazine with methyl bromide to obtain 3-methylpiperazine, and then by reacting dimethyl carbonate to introduce Boc protecting group.
For safety information, organic compounds in general require appropriate laboratory practices and handling. It may be irritating to the human body and should avoid inhalation, intake and skin contact. Wear appropriate protective goggles, gloves and laboratory clothing when operating. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. During storage and handling, attention should be paid to fire and explosion prevention, and it should be placed in a sealed container for storage.
